This picture of the two bright daisies and bee below was not taken with a macro lens. I took this picture with my fixed focal length Nikon 55mm f/1.8 lens. Grab a fixed focal length lens and give this a try. 1. Find a flower you want to take a picture of. 2. Switch your lens to manual focus. 3. There will be one particular distance the lens will have perfect focus. 4. Get down low on the same level as the flower or insect and get close to it. 5. If it's out of focus just slowly move back until it's in perfect focus. 6. If there are other flowers around the flower you want to take, position the camera so that other flowers are out of focus behind it. Hold the camera steady and take the picture.
Fixed focal lenses are so much fun to use as they push you to be creative. They are also extremely sharp and the colors like in this picture will be vivid and pop! Have fun trying this!
